The blues occasionally takes root in some unusual places. In the case of Jack Semple, those roots found fertile soil on a farm just north of Regina Saskatchewan, where a young Semple first picked up a guitar.

"I grew up on a farm, I was the youngest of six kids. Two of my brothers played guitar and taught me a few chords." said Semple.

It was enough of an education for Semple to embark on more formalized lessons that included classical, flamenco and accoustic training.

"I still tend to play electric guitar in a flamenco way which is kind of a unique approach."
