Corbie Dorner

Born and raised in Taber, Alberta, Corbie began music at a very young age.  He was singing before he could talk and playing the piano before he was "old enough to take lessons".  His musical journey has taken him back and forth across Canada as both a performer and as a student.  After high school he joined a country/rock band and toured extensively for nearly 2 years from the west coast to Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The road eventually began to lose its luster and Corbie sought out his next challenge at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton, AB where he studied jazz piano, obtaining a Diploma in Jazz Performance.  From there he transferred to St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia to complete a B. Mus. Degree in Jazz studies.  He moved back west, to Calgary, in 2002 and worked his way into the blues scene playing keyboards with the Mike Clark Band which featured guitarists such as Amos Garrett and Johnny V.

He moved to Medicine Hat to teach at Notre Dame Academy in the fall of 2007 and can be seen playing around town solo and with local groups lead by Tim Herman and Rob Hudec respectively.  When he is not in town, it is a safe bet that he is dueling pianos in either Calgary or Lethbridge.  He 'is' currently working on writing the material for a new album in his spare time.
