Lucas Chaisson

Lucas Chaisson is a 15-year old singer songwriter from Cochrane, Alberta. Both as a writer and performer Lucas exudes a maturity far beyond his years. His soulful original songs and imaginative arrangements of covers make a strong emotional connection with his audience. With songs described as roots, rhythm and blues and comparisons to the likes of John Mayer, Martin Sexton and Ron Sexsmith, Lucas continues to capture audiences and grow as an artist.

In the past year, Lucas has skyrocketed into the impressive Calgary music scene. Receiving praise from such names as legendary singer-songwriter Ian Thomas, The Polyjesters, singer-songwriter and producer Gurf Morlix, and prolific singer/songwriter Justin Rutledge.

He has always had an eclectic taste in music and has been influenced by a range of artists from Neil Young, Eric Clapton, the Beatles, Luther Vandross, Martin Sexton, and early Motown to Andre Boccelli. His skillful, percussive guitar style, insightful lyrics and honest vocals keep audiences engaged and wanting more.

Although in the business a relatively short time, Lucas’ drive and passion for music is spreading quickly. He plans to be in the studio in the near future with a vision to his first release. Although he had been gigging locally since the tender age of 9, it wasn't until early 2009 that he was discovered by U22's Rhea March.

U22 is a Alberta program which creates credible performance opportunities for outstanding young talent. (U22.ca) "A creative rebel, an observational marvel and drawn to music like a moth to flame. That is how I like to describe 15 year old Lucas Chaisson. This young songwriter who makes his home in Cochrane is a shining example of the remarkable southern talent on the rise in Alberta today."- Rhea March March has become one of Lucas' biggest fans and most important musical mentors since he joined the impressive U22 line-up.

Lucas has been featured at several U22 concert stages in Alberta and received accolades from all. Most recently he performed at the Mountain View Music Festival and made a great big impression on the audience, fellow musicians and the hosts, The Polyjesters. Lucas is booked to appear at U22 concert stages into 2010 and of 40 outstanding artists on the U22 roster, Lucas has been chosen as one of six to showcase on an upcoming U22 television special being filmed by CBC. The term "old soul" is over used but it's literally the case with this cleaver young tunesmith. His lyrics are mature, well crafted and interesting. His vocal styling is akin to that of Brett Dennan and Ron Sexmith; his performance style is reminiscent of a young Martin Sexton.
