Ron Mason

Music has been an important part of Ron's life from an early age. Growing up in Southern Ontario, he was surrounded by the East-Coast Celtic music of his parents and Uncle. He picked up the guitar as a teenager and was soon teaching himself folk, country and blues.

By the mid-1980's Ron had moved to Western Canada and was working in the field of Outdoor Education, as well as spending summers at a YMCA camp for kids. Many an evening around a campfire helped hone Ron's skills as a folk singer. Already holding diplomas in Forestry Technology and Farrier Science, he went on to earn his Education Degree in 1997. As a teacher Ron was inspired to write more of his own songs.

His first CD, "The Climb" was released in 2005.

Today Ron is the Education Coordinator at the Historic Clay District in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The fascinating stories of the people who shaped the history of the city, coupled closely with the rise and fall of the pottery industry, served to inspire the songs on Ron's second CD "Move the Earth"
